Bristol’s Greek community has had a church of its own since 1963, when a Victorian church on Lower Ashley Road became the first permanent Greek Orthodox church in the West Country. Greek Market delivers Greek food across the city and the surrounding area: more than 150 orders to BS postcodes in the last two years, over 100 of them to Bristol itself. We’re an online Greek supermarket with no shop in Bristol, and we deliver to your door.
St Peter and St Paul, Easton
The Greek Orthodox Church of St Peter and St Paul began life as the Anglican church of St Simon the Apostle, built in 1846–47 for the Baptist Mills district. The Greek community leased the empty church in 1960, consecrated it for Orthodox worship on 29 September 1963 and bought it in 1978. Look for the silver orb and cross on its shortened spire beside the M32 (history of the church).
The church’s feast, 29 June, falls in the middle of the Greek summer and is one of the big name days, for every Petros, Pavlos and Petroula.
